‘Mathematics expresses values that reflect the cosmos, including orderliness, balance, harmony, logic and abstract beauty’ – Deepak Chopra
The Mathematics Department at Da Vinci Academy is dedicated to inspiring each and every student to achieve their academic potential. It also seeks to help young people develop life skills, through reasoning, and also helping them to become fluent in the universal language of numbers and aspects of mathematics in every subject and all aspects of their lives.
In KS3 mathematics, we aim for all students to become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, reason mathematically, and solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine.
The department address curricula requirements for Year 7, 8, and 9 including the seven core elements, Number, Algebra, Ratio, Proportion and rates of change, Geometry and measures, Probability, and Statistics.
Our Year 7 and 8 are following a differentiated version of the White Rose Maths mastery scheme of learning:
In Year 9 the students are following a bespoke curriculum to ensure that they are GCSE ready for Year 10.
In Key Stage 4, students in Year 10 are taught GCSE mathematics at either foundation or higher tier following the Edexcel two year scheme of learning:
Year 11 are following an express curriculum to ensure that all GCSE content is covered. The order of the content may change due to current circumstances but the content will be covered over the year. The content is found here.
